CompSoc Forum Account Setup Guide

Logging in

This is the easy part! Your account login details are the same as those that you use when logging in via SSH, Roundcube, etc. yada yada yada.

User Settings

  • Then navigate to the User Control Panel or UCP

Set up Jabber Notification

NOTE

Jabber/XMPP topic reply notifications work using Compsoc chat, a service which lets you IM Compsoc members. To learn how this works and to set it up, see http://compsoc.nuigalway.ie/wiki/how_to:chat

  • Click the menu item called Profile and then enter your “Jabber Address”. This is your login username with the suffix ”@compsoc.nuigalway.ie”

  • Then click the menu item called “Board Preferences”

  • Subscribe to desired forum!

DISCLAIMER

All of this hinges on the fact that you use the Jabber/XMPP service kindly set up by the CompSoc Admin. If you don't have it set up. SET IT UP.

This guide doesn't account for any bugs that may occur with Openfire Chat Server or with phpBB3 Forum Software.
