Bot Wars - 22nd - 23rd January 2011

Once again various teams at NUIG are assembling battle bots to fight it out in the Compsoc ARENA, Bank of Ireland Theatre, Aras na Mac Leinn in January 2011. If you are a student at NUIG and want to be part of this contact botwars@compsoc.nuigalway.ie or join us to discuss and if you are a student at NUIG build killer machines at our weekly Monday Mashups, The Stage, Aras Na Mac Leinn, 7-9pm.

Due to the success of last year's first ever Botwars we are inviting other colleges to participate in both Botwars and the DBC Challenge. We will also be hosting some competitive LAN play with enough space for over 60 entrants. (prices and prizes for LAN are TBA).

Entry fee per student for the weekend to all events (excluding Botwars, DBC and LAN participation (please contact botwars@compsoc.nuigalway.ie if you are interested in those)) is 5 Euro for the full weekend including some light refreshments.

Design Build, Code Challenge

This challenge is open to NUIG Students and students at other Irish Colleges (places limited). This one day challenge requires you to use all your skill to design, construct and program a robot in 8 hours using a supplied Lego Nxt Kit. Last year's challenge was a SUMO robot contest, last robot in the ring progressed to the next round and our skillful winners came from Redbrick DCU.
