links is a text mode WWW browser, supporting colors, correct table rendering, background downloading, menu driven configuration interface and slim code. links can handle local (file://) or remote (http://, ftp:// or https:// if there's compiled-in SSL support) URLs.

Frames are supported.

You can have different file formats associated with external viewers.
mailto: and telnet: are supported via external clients.

$ links http://www.boards.ie
# will launch w3m from the command line and bring you to Boards.ie

If you know the URL of a file that you want to download, there is no need to load up a browser, browse to the location of the file and then download the file. You can download the file directly from the command line using wget.
